We are a new EngSoc Trial Status club. Our mandate is to develop wearable expertise in the community through three key areas:

Embedded Electronics

Form & Function

Companion Software

Wearable ECG Sensor

Current Focus

Our first project is a Wearable ECG (Electrocardiogram) sensor, which measures the electrical signals of the heart. Our biomedical focus explores the development of an all-day wearable monitoring solution that could significantly impact healthcare.

Project Scope

  • Designing and placing physical electrodes
  • Developing hardware connections
  • Establishing hardware communication to sensors on a microcontroller
  • Implementing wireless Bluetooth communication (MCU to Smartphone)
  • Building a smartphone application
  • Future Goal: PCB design and manufacturing for a realistic form factor.

Workshops & Learning

This project creates a space for the Skule community to learn. We host teaching sessions on:

Zephyr RTOS Embedded C Flutter App Dev Sensor Comms

Hardware Focus

We are utilizing industry-standard technology to provide invaluable experience with biomedical sensors used worldwide.

Primary Kit: MAX30001G Evaluation Kit

This allows us to prototype various 2-electrode ECG devices and is critical for our move toward custom PCB design.
